    What RTT Hypnotherapy Actually Feels Like (And What It Doesn't)

    If I had a pound for every time someone said 'I don't think I can be hypnotised' — I'd be a wealthy woman. It's one of the most common things I hear, and it's completely understandable. The popular image of hypnosis — the swinging watch, the loss of control, the quacking-like-a-duck stage shows — is so far from the reality of therapeutic RTT that it's almost a different thing entirely.

    So let me tell you what an RTT session actually feels like.

    You Are Always in Control

    First and most importantly: you are always completely aware and in control throughout an RTT session. You won't say or do anything you wouldn't normally say or do. You won't reveal secrets. You won't lose consciousness. Hypnotherapy is simply a state of deeply relaxed, focused attention — similar to the feeling just before you fall asleep, or the absorption you feel when you're completely engrossed in a book or a film.

    What the Relaxation Feels Like

    Most clients describe the experience as deeply pleasant. Your body relaxes, your mind becomes quiet and still, and you enter a state where you are both calm and remarkably clear-headed. Many people are surprised by how aware they feel throughout the process.

    Accessing the Subconscious Mind

    In this relaxed state, we are able to gently explore the subconscious mind — the part of your mind that stores your deepest beliefs, memories, and emotional patterns. Often, the root causes of anxiety, stress, grief, or physical symptoms lie here, in beliefs formed in childhood or in response to difficult experiences. RTT allows us to identify these roots, understand them, and begin to release and replace them.

    The Recording

    After each session, I create a personalised hypnotherapy recording for you to listen to at home — usually for 21 days. This is a vital part of the process, as it helps to embed the positive changes we've made in the subconscious mind and to reinforce your transformation over time.
